Another anonymous witness in the investigation, immediately initiated on 29 May 2023 at the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office (SCPO), gave information about frequent visits of Borislav Sarafov and other senior magistrates to Petyo Petrov – Evroto in his testimony of 31 May 2023. The investigation began after the Anti-Corruption Fund /ACF/ published photos of smiling Petrov and Sarafov in front of „The Eight Dwarfs“(Osemte Dzhudzheta) restaurant, received by e-mail a day earlier.
This is already the fifth eyewitness whose testimony about the connections of the current Prosecutor General with Petyo Petrov became public.
In February 2024, bird.bg showed the protocols of the interrogations under the same pre-trial proceedings of two other witnesses, one of whom has a secret identity number 24-2, to which were added the information already given, including in interviews before the ACF, by Iliya Zlatanov and Lyubena Pavlova in the same field.
The record of the interrogation of a witness with a secret identity under number 24-1, which the ACF published today, contains information about frequent visits to the „Eight Dwarfs“ in the period 2018 – 2020 by Borislav Sarafov, former city and current Deputy Prosecutor of Appeals of Sofia Emilia Rusinova and former Head of the now closed Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Dimitar Frantisek. There, they met with Petyo Petrov in a separate room on the first floor, to which the staff of the establishment did not normally have access, but only Petrov and his then-wife Lyubena. From this room, Sarafov and Rusinova came out with large paper envelopes, which seemed to contain documents.
The identities of the two anonymous witnesses from the investigation of the SRS were apparently of particular interest to Prosecutor of the SDPO Yordan Petrov, after he accepted the pre-trial proceedings and read their testimonies. At his express request, respected by the head of the Criminal Board of the SCC, he got acquainted with the secret materials containing the identity data of the witnesses, which were then in the secret file of the SCC.
Then the witness with secret identity number 24-2 was exposed and in his words he received a threatening letter. Supervising Prosecutor Yordan Petrov even pronounced his name on national airwaves, albeit with the defense still not formally dropped.
The fate of witness number 24-1 with a secret identity remains unknown. It remains unknown whether he has already changed his testimony regarding Borislav Sarafov’s relationship with Petyo Petrov, as other persons who previously provided information in this direction have done.
