„According to my information, there is paper that is left over from the last elections. It is unacceptable for us to use it because there are certain protections that have been made for the previous elections. The other very important point is that we want the process of control over the machines to be expanded as much as possible before they are sent to the sectional election commission.“

This was stated by Minister of Innovation and Growth Assoc. Rosen Karadimov in Burgas, where he will hold a working meeting on the government’s commitments to material and technical support for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the activities for the preparation of the vote within the framework of the duties and powers of the Cabinet and the coordination between the district governors and the territorial units of the Directorate General of Civil Registration and Administrative Services for their implementation.

Karadimov told reporters that the Ministry of Innovation and Growth will push for streamlining the process of machine authentication to apply to software and flash drives. He also paid special attention to the seals as he said it was not normal for the same company to be the supplier and install them. For this reason, the department insisted that there should be another supplier and that the seals themselves should have numbers which should be recorded in the handover report between the supplier and the sectional election commission.

Minister Karadimov also commented on reports of registrations of many people at one address. According to him, there is nothing to worry about, since it is a practice from the 70s and 80s and it is currently impossible.

He reminded that the government’s actions must be within the law and the situation cannot be changed if the administrative order does not allow it.
