The infectivity of COVID-19 is decreasing, commented the Chief state health inspector Angel Kunchev. According to him, more and more cases of people who tested positive for the new coronavirus, but they passed through the disease slightly, had almost no clinical symptoms, and there was a decrease in severe cases in hospital, including deaths. The expert predicts that the number will decrease gradually.

The previous increase in infections was reported in April, when there were 90 cases per day. One of the reasons for today’s increase is the late release of the results of the samples from Dospat yesterday, which were 30. Associate Professor. Kunchev explained that the virus is definitely circulating in the country in places where it finds suitable soil – such as a factory, hospital, village.

According to the expert, we are still at the very beginning of the spread. He commented on an article in which it was written that there are family outbreaks with 1 positive test, which does not infect anyone for a long time, but there were also „super spreaders“ that infected between 50 and 60 people when they gathered in a collective. This phenomenon existed and this is how the cluster spread in our country could be explained, the associate professor clarified.

Assoc. Prof. Kunchev announced that today the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev will issue a new order stating that masks are mandatory in public transport, and in other places – closed places are highly recommended.

In which Stara Zagora enterprises was COVID-19 found?

20 employees of two Stara Zagora enterprises have positive samples. Some of them are from Sliven region, and Nova Zagora. One company is the food industry facility „Gradus“, the other – knitting factory „Natalia“. Both were disinfected and a special mode of operation was introduced. An entire plant will not be closed, only the line where the virus was caught.

Will there be a complete quarantine for Yasenovets and Izgrev?

Assoc. Prof. Kunchev commented that they did not want to close the villages, but the people there were quite unenforceable and would most likely force the authorities to take stricter measures. For now, there would be an increased police presence and traffic restrictions.

Our strategy does not change, we do not want to interfere with finances and the economy and personal life, but to keep the infection under control, not to reach high peaks that threaten the health system.“

There are 81 cases in Dospat and the expert added that he does not expect an increase, but a remission of the outbreaks. According to him, the situation in April was much more dangerous.
