A scandal broke out today during the sitting of the National Assembly because of deputies who do not wear masks. The disputes started in the morning, when MP Pavel Shopov was without a means of protection. Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva remarked to him several times, and one of the conservators even brought him a mask. However, Shopov did not put it. When he took the floor to criticize the leadership of the parliament for sending him the acts at home and not doing it in public, the chairman of the sitting Emil Hristov took the floor and stopped his microphone. He punished Shopov by removing him from one hearing.

During the last item on the agenda, a serious scandal broke out over the masks between GERB and BSP. Spas Garnevski addressed the deputies from the left and accused them that half of them do not wear protective equipment or are under their noses. Among them was Georgi Gokov. Garnevski was reprimanded by Emil Hristov.

Georgi Svilenski from BSP demanded a harsher punishment for the GERB MP – removal from three sittings of the National Assembly. Hristov replied that he had already reprimanded the MP and punished him in this way.

Garnevski announced that there should be an iron line in the plenary hall and there could not be a person without a mask who was a potential contagion all day.

BSP said it refused to continue the session while Garnevski was in the plenary hall. They even threatened Hristov that if he did not remove him, they would start a petition for his dismissal from the post of deputy chairman. Hristov replied that if they wanted a harsher punishment, they should turn to the Parliamentary Council of Presidents.
