Two more lose battle against COVID-19 – number of infected with coronavirus people in Bulgaria reaches 1188

The total number of infected with coronavirus people in Bulgaria reached 1188, according to information provided by the National Operations Headquarters. There are 17 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today – 2  in Sofia municipality and 15 in the city of Pleven.

Currently, there are 282 COVID-19 patients treated in hospitals, 41 of which are treated in  intensive care units. As of April 24, the gender distribution of the new coronavirus in the country is 585 men and 603 women.

As April 24 at 17:00 local time, the geographical distribution of confirmed cases, according to information provided by the National Operations Headquarters, is the following:  Blagoevgrad – 33; Burgas – 43; Varna – 26; Veliko Tarnovo – 17; Vidin – 50; Vratsa – 3; Gabrovo – 4; Dobrich – 13; Kardzhali – 13; Kyustendil – 35; Lovech – 2; Montana – 18; Pazardzhik – 21; Pernik – 10; Pleven – 94; Plovdiv – 43; Rousse – 10; Silistra – 3; Sliven – 35; Smolyan – 33; Sofia – 625; Stara Zagora – 32; Haskovo – 15; Shumen – 4, and Yambol – 6.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths rose to 54 after two more people lost their lives earlier today. One of the fatal cases is of a 95-years-old man who was treated in the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases “prof. Ivan Kirov”. The second case is of a 73-years-old woman suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic respiratory failure and lung cancer. The woman passed away in the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine “N. I. Pirogov”.
