No conflict of interest was found with regard to Maya Manolova in her capacity as a MP in the 45th National Assembly /NA/, the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property announced.

The legal proceedings against her were initiated by a signal alleging that she, as Chairperson of the Interim Review Commission on the detection of abuse and irregularities in spending by the Council of Ministries, state bodies, state enterprises and companies with more than 50% state participation in the last 10 Years, had not audited the period from 2013 to 2016, because during that time her husband was Minister of Defence.

The Anti-Corruption Commission points out that when the MPs voted, the scope of the probe was set to be for the last four years, and later to move to an earlier period. Thus, it was established that the proposal did not exclude the time during which Maya Manolova’s husband had participated in the composition of the Council of Ministers and that there was no private interest on her part or of a person related to her. The Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property specified for the mayor of Rakitovo Municipality:

The Supreme Administrative Court has upheld the decision of the Administrative Court of Pazardzhik, which partially upheld the decision of the Commission of 2020 on conflict of interest with regard to Mayor of Rakitovo Kostadin Holoyanov. Following the decision of the SAC, which is final, Holyanov may be dismissed from his post.“

Two more legal proceedings of conflict of interest are being conducted against Holyanov in the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property.
