Bulgarian National Assembly

The 48th National Assembly was officially ended. Shortly before, President Rumen Radev issued a decree dissolving the parliament, scheduled elections for April 2 and appointed a new caretaker government.

In a comment, the chairman of the parliamentary group of „We Continue the Change“ Andrei Gyurov pointed out that this National Assembly remained in opposition to the future. It will be remembered, in his opinion, as a parliament of paper in this increasingly digitalized world. He stressed that the „paper coalition“ was born. And the 48th National Assembly itself will be remembered for the changes to the Electoral Code.

Gyurov also pointed to successes, including the provision of better access to health care in small settlements, as well as the increase in salaries in medical institutions. Three very important laws under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan were also adopted.

For his part, the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Atanas Atanasov said that unfortunately the parliamentary republic continues to slide. And the parliament has failed to fulfill its most important task, which it has under the Constitution and that is to elect a regular government. According to Atanas Atanasov this is undoubtedly a failure of the first political force. Moreover, according to him, the agenda of the National Assembly was dictated by GERB and perhaps directly by Bankya (Boyko Borissov).

Atanasov also stressed that we are already used to living in a caretaker government and this thing must be stopped. It is for this reason that efforts are being made to bring the democratic forces together and that is why a coalition is being formed between „We Continue the Change“ and „Democratic Bulgaria“.

The leader of „Bulgarian Rise“ Stefan Yanev also expressed his opinion, announcing that the country is going to early parliamentary elections for the fifth time and this is a clear indicator that there is a collapse of the political system in Bulgaria.

BSP leader Kornelia Ninova called for an end to the dividing lines and to start working to solve the problems of the Bulgarian citizens. In her words, the 48th National Assembly was marked by scandals, and against the background of them the judicial reform is again stalled.
