Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel agreed on minimal changes in the composition of the Council of Ministers in the upcoming rotation. This became clear after the Prime Minister’s back-channel announcements during the meeting held in Parliament with GERB leader Boyko Borissov.

The central theme of the discussions was the evaluation of the activities of the individual ministers and the planned rotation in the Council of Ministers. Responding to the criticism directed by Borissov towards the agriculture ministry, Denkov stressed that the rotation is not an end in itself, but a mechanism for optimising managerial efficiency. The prime minister stressed the importance of continuing the governance programme and focusing efforts on implementing key European priorities, increasing incomes and reducing inequality.

Borissov praised the work of the ministers of transport, regional development, economy, culture and education, but expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of clear plans and measures in the agriculture sector. He stressed the need to actively discuss and take action in response to the current challenges facing farmers in Europe.

Despite their different points of view, both leaders expressed their readiness for dialogue and cooperation.
