“The political coalition remains stable and we will remain in the current political makeup until the end of the mandate next spring. The most crucial issue we need to address next week is the vote of no confidence submitted by the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Any changes in the cabinet we decided to undertake will be announced after the vote. We stand united against it and any potential resignations and leadership changes will be discussed after its rejection,”, said Party Chairman of National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria, Valeri Simeonov, for the local news hub “DarikNews”

The agreement was met during a 3-hour long summit of political party GERB and the party of the United Patriots.

The vote of no confidence will not pass, said Krasimir Karakachanov, but there will be changes, he added.

PM Boyko Borissov agreed with his political allies, adding that it is not the right moment for divisiveness but for unity in the ruling coalition. In regards to the ministerial resignations he requested of Mladen Marinov, Emil Karanikolov and Vladislav Goranov, PM Borssiov said:

“I am deeply sorry, but whenever regional coordinators and the party itself call for actions all I can do is agree. That is why I requested the ministerial resignations”.

Borissov asked Christo Ivanov to announce who is he planning to create a cabinet with and if he is not indeed simply doing “the dirty work” of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms who are “trying to take GERB and the United Patriots down in order to seize power”

“Bulgaria obeys the rule of law and so should all of us. I am already holding the resignations of three ministers. We just had a meeting with them and we listened carefully. They indeed had major support and carried out many crucial state duties. Our Minister of Finance turned Bulgaria into an example for financial stability. Bulgaria entered the Bank union and is awaiting admission to the Eurozone while ranking top three among the countries with the most stable financial systems. Minister of Interior also put much hard work, leaving no homicide or repression against journalists unsolved. He also works hard on maintaining social order even though yesterday it got cristal clear how the provocations during the protests are orchestrated. Emil Karanikolov and the Ministry of Economy managed to increase to record highs the growth of GDP and international investments in the country. And all these efforts are strategically linked in the eyes of the public with Delyan Peevski and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with the helpful hand of the so-called “civil right-wingers” who as we found out yesterday from phone texts and conversations are organized through Facebook. It was the least to say bizarre. One day they gather up at park “Rossents”, on the next day they protest in front of the Ministry of Interior and in the end, they drink coffee at hotel “Berlin” believing the problem is solved.”

Borissov added he knew the faces of the protests and cannot imagine the country to be governed by them as it would inevitably lead to a disaster. He stressed again that a dangerous financial crisis is on the horizon

“No other political party or coalition is capable of carrying the country through the upcoming financial storm. Trust me – governments will fall and a caretaker government will be by no means capable of handling the situation. Our immature President, whose cabinet is orchestrated by Shishi, should be asked the same questions we got asked by Christo Ivanov. At the same time, they call for the resignation of my ministers who are extreme professionals.”

The Prime Minister summarized that a major cabinet overhaul is underway and called the political elite to think twice before taking actions in the coming months given the “major pending crisis”.
