The unprecedented re-counting of ballots for municipal councilors has begun after the local elections on October 29 in Burgas. This was reached after an appointed judicial and technical expertise of the Administrative Court on the complaint of Konstantin Bachiyski from the „Middle European Class“ party.

11 experts have been appointed, and among the observers is the public figure Biser Rusimov from the „Organization for the Protection of Bulgarian Citizens“. The court charged a fee of BGN 7,000 for the procedure. The total number of ballots is 60,380, and at this stage it is not known how long the counting will take.

The results of the recount could turn out to be crucial and effectively reshuffle the seats in the Municipal Council-Burgas, as the European Middle Class Party is only 34 votes short of another mandate. Although the appeal comes from this party, all councilor ballots will be recounted, not just hers.
