The Prosecutor’s Office announced that the main hypotheses for the death of journalist Georgi Alexandrov were suicide or an accident. Varna Appellate Prosecutor Vladimir Chavdarov clarified that the pre-trial proceedings for establishing the causes and circumstances of Alexandrov’s death are led by the Varna District Prosecutor’s Office, and the investigation is carried out by an investigating police officer from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of Varna.

On May 22, at around 5:30 pm, the body of a man was found in the navigable canal under the Asparuhov Bridge, about 60 meters east in the direction of the sea. The body was recognized by the relatives of 39-year-old Georgi Alexandrov. The cause of death was drowning, according to the results of yesterday’s autopsy. Altitude injuries to internal organs have been identified, which are caused by falling from a height. No medical findings or injuries were found to be caused by violence against Alexandrov. The pre-trial proceedings work on two main hypotheses – an accident or suicide „, explained the Appellate Prosecutor Vladimir Chavdarov, quoted by „Focus „.

There is a forensic clinical examination to investigate fine-intoxicating substances in the blood and 1.94 in the cerebrospinal fluid. The expertise will prove the concentration at the time of death, “ said Chavdarov and added:

According to unconfirmed information, the journalist’s laptop was found in the area. It is alleged that he conducted his own investigation into the case of the pollution of the sea coast as a result of the defective pipe in the Varna Lake.
