If the National Assembly votes for military aid to Ukraine, the BSP will leave the coalition and go to early parliamentary elections. This was announced by MP Rumen Gechev. He stressed that there are currently many challenges and crises that the country has to go through, so it is important that the government is stable. That is why the socialists could not afford to make additional noise.

According to Gechev, even if the National Assembly voted for military aid to Ukraine, Economy Minister Korneliya Ninova would not sign for arms exports and the BSP would leave office. The MP is adamant that they will not take part in such a thing because it was unreasonable.

He also commented on the election of a new governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), pointing out that after what happened yesterday it is almost certain that they would not support the second candidate for the post because they did not want to take anyone’s side and there is opposition within the coalition. On the contrary. The BSP was a party that brought peace and therefore did not want to deepen the discord.

Gechev explained that they approached calmly and waited to see what their partners would offer them. In this way, he answered the question why he did not run for BNB chief. In addition, it became clear from his words that if a new manager is not elected, Dimitar Radev will remain the Head of the bank. The MP explained that it was possible to be offered another term or to have new proposals for candidates.
