Radev’s caretaker ministers are ignoring the National Assembly and they are not coming to parliamentary scrutiny, BSP leader Korneliya Ninova said in a statement from the parliamentary rostrum.

„The Minister of Economy and Industry has not come for parliamentary scrutiny for two months. Every way is found not to appear. We have asked dozens of questions, but it seems that the caretaker ministers in President Radev’s cabinet have made it a habit to ignore the National Assembly and not come to parliamentary scrutiny. We have repeatedly criticized this behaviour. But it seems to me that, for the particular occasion I am about to talk to you about, it is already a matter of danger. That is why I want to sound the alarm, to warn and to make it known. Minister of Economy and Industry, Stoyanov, has repeatedly stated in public interviews that he has initaied a process for a huge German investment of EUR 1 billion for a photovoltaic park at the Ogosta dam. More than once he stated it publicly. Any foreign investment is welcome as long as the laws of Bulgaria are respected and national security is not endangered,“, Ninova said.

The Socialist leader warned, „The Ogosta dam is included in this document, which the minister has probably never heard of – Decree 181, which defines strategic sites and activities that are important for national security. The Ogosta dam, ranked 6th on this list, is an object important for national security. It is already clear to everyone that the Ogosta dam is one of those high-risk sites that needs to be repaired to avoid possible future problems. It is one of the first to be taken care of. The owner of the Ogosta dam is the Ministry of Agriculture. I have dozens of arguments to call for this man to be stopped, and I say it in good time. Firstly, did the owner give him permission? Secondly, what do the services say about this, because under this decree these sites are monitored by the services? Thirdly, what does the State Agency for Metrology and Technical Supervision say? Fourthly, has the Ministry of Ecology given an EIA? I could go on with dozens more questions.“

„Minister Stoyanov himself is already becoming a threat to national security if we do not stop him in time and ask him here in Parliament to explain what he is doing, with whose permission he is doing it, whether he has all the necessary documents and procedures, whether what he is doing is a threat to national security and the region. Extremely important questions, I have warned. I have been waiting for him for a second month, to come here before he becomes really dangerous for Bulgaria,“, Ninova concluded.
