„Democratic Bulgaria“ party also took a position on the case related to the appointment of former State Security agents to senior positions. Earlier Prime Minister Kiril Petkov categorically announced that this would not be allowed. And if there are already such appointments, these people will be released.

Now the DB spread a position to the media, announcing that it will raise the issue of lustration with its coalition partners in the appointments, so that there are no people in the management teams associated with the former State Security.

According to the coalition agreement, political cabinets are at the discretion and judgment of the respective minister. But our position on the need for lustration, especially as regards the security system and foreign relations, and especially in the context of what is happening in the region, is clear and consistent. And we will raise this topic with our coalition partners to discuss it.“, Ivanov said in parliament.

This is how  he commented on the information that appeared in the office of Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska, State Security associates such as Petko Sertov and Petyo Petev were appointed as advisers. Hristo Ivanov explained that „Democratic Bulgaria“ has no right to veto these appointments, but disagreement will be expressed.

Defence Minister Stefan Yanev will be summoned to a hearing in the future defense committee in parliament to explain why and whether he opposes an increase in NATO troops in Bulgaria.“, Ivanov said.

We would support all measures related to strengthening our defense and ability to resist the strengthening of Russian influence in the region. The position of the Minister of Defence requires at least good clarification.„, he explained.

Hristo Ivanov explained that „Democratic Bulgaria“ insists Bulgaria to fully develop its membership in NATO.
