A police officer from Sofia Directorate of the Interior Ministry (SDIM) was wounded in the head after he was hit by a stone thrown during the protests last night in the area of the National Assembly building – 1. Two other officers – also from the structure of SDIM, received medical treatment after receiving minor injuries. This happened during an attempt by a group of aggressive protesters to break through a police cordon for the protection of the Bulgarian Parliament, whose building is part of the critical infrastructure of the Republic of Bulgaria, stressed the SDVR.

The tension to the National Assembly – 1 yesterday arose around 10 pm, as we told you yesterday from Iskra.bg. Some of the organizers of the unregulated protest actions showed verbal aggression towards the law enforcement officers, shouting at them from very close distances through megaphones.

Small groups of provocateurs with profiles and hooligan behavior of people associated with ultras of football clubs targeted police officers with stones, pyrotechnics and bottles full of liquid. From the second and third lines, they tried to push other protesting citizens forward and thus provoke clashes with law enforcement officers.

The Sofia police continues to work on establishing the identity of the provocateurs, and at the next stage the relevant law enforcement measures will be taken against the aggressive and hooligan behavior of these persons.

Earlier yesterday, due to the discovery of prohibited items during an inspection of one of the checkpoints, a man was not allowed to the protest event on Independence Square in Sofia. Two other people were taken to the Sofia District Police Department – a man for identification and a woman for non-compliance with a police order. A little later, they were released.

The Sofia police again called on the participants in the protests to observe the provisions of the Bulgarian laws and to follow the orders of the police officers, who take care of the life and health of all citizens.
