Bulgarians are dissatisfied with the large hypermarkets because they sell not enough Bulgarian goods. This is the reason why some people organize a boycott against these foreign chains in the social network Facebook. It starts today at 09:00 and will last until 22 April at 12:00.

“Let’s all boycott big hypermarkets together. They have decided to do business in our country, but they ignore the Bulgarian manufacturers. Let’s shop from the neighborhood food mini market, the nearby butcher shop, etc.“, the organizers urged.

The problem with the lack of enough Bulgarian goods in the big foreign trade chains in Bulgaria has been for years.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva also took up the question a while ago. However, it announced yesterday that it had not met any understanding from foreign chains to sell native products. They preferred to import goods from third countries.

The department of finance suggested that Bulgarian manufacturers have access to these hypermarkets, but that would obviously not happen.

Taneva set the example for the Bulgarian greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes that are coming out at the moment. And he emphasized:

“Is it normal for a greenhouse, five kilometers from the city’s retail chain, to prevent the consumer from choosing a fresh product and to bring all the produce with trucks from third parties?”

Taneva also said that she had asked foreign chains to provide her with information about their suppliers, but so far had received “zero order”. Only one chain sent her a 5-row tablet.

Minister Taneva stressed that the state does not impose who to buy what, but wants only access of Bulgarian producers to foreign chains, from which they buy goods a significant part of our compatriots.
