58 new COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours

Bulgarian National Operations Headquarters announced 58 new COVID-19 cases and 22 hospitalized coronavirus patients in Bulgaria for the past 24 hours. The total number of infected with the new coronavirus people in the country reached 1348 and the number of active cases – 1141. 

Head of the National Operations Headquarters gen. Mutafchyiski announced that there are 7 active regions in the country with Pleven being in the lead accounting for 23 cases of the coronavirus infections, 17 of which are workers of “Miziya”. Seven of them are admitted for treatment in two hospitals. 

There are 19 new cases in the capital city of Sofia. In Kyustendil, there are 8, in Veliko Turnovo 4, in Plovdiv 2, and single cases are registered in the cities of Sliven and Pazardzhik.

There are 7 new cases of infected children in Pleven. Three of them are boys at the age of 6, 8, and 15 years and two are girls at the age of 1 and 14 years. They are experiencing mild symptoms of the respiratory disease and are being treated at home. 

The number of coronavirus related deaths in the country is 56. The latest case is of a 70-years-old man from Burgas who was also suffering from an oncologic disease.

A total of 206 people have fully recovered with the latest one being a woman from the city of Yambol.

Confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted for hospital treatment are 301 with 41 of them receiving treatment in intensive care units. 

Among the medical workers, there are currently 147 confirmed COVID-19. There are 9 new cases over the last 24 hours, 7 of which are from the hospital of “Pirogov” in Sofia. Five of them are nurses, one is a medical doctor and one is a janitor. One of the nurses is from the Military Medical Academy and the other one from the “Ivan Rilski” hospital.
