There 24 new COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria according to information provided by the National Operational Headquarters on Saturday morning. The total number of coronavirus cases in Bulgaria reached 648 – a 3.8% increase compared to the day before.

15 of the new cases are registered in the capital city of Sofia – 6 of them are being treated in “Pirogov” and one in Saint Sofia hospital, Infectious Diseases Hospital and “Tokuda” respectively. There are six outpatient cases. Two of the new cases are from Kirdzhali and there is one in Pazardzhik, Smolyan, Burgas, and Sliven respectively. In Veliko Turnovo, there is an entire contaminated family with a six-year-old child. The family used to live in the United Kingdom and had recently returned to Bulgaria. They are currently guaranteed and experience mild symptoms of the disease.

There is a total of 36 medical workers with positive tests for COVID-19 in the country. The new cases are 3 – a hospital orderly from Pirogov’s infectious ward, a 61-year-old laboratory assistant from the Regional Health Inspection in Kurdzhali and hospital orderly from the university multidisciplinary hospital in Kurdzhali.

62 people have successfully recovered from the respiratory disease.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country is 26. The average age of the deceased patients is 64 years.

“The new death cases are of a 44-years old woman from Sliven and a man treated in the hospital of “Pirogov”. Both cases have been closely monitored over the past 48 hours in awaiting of the test results. Both are positive and the cases are included in the overall statistic. So far, 14 men and 12 women have died with the average age of the people deceased being 64 years.”

A total of 231 patients who gave positive tests for COVID-19 are hospitalized and placed under medical supervision. 32 people have been admitted to intensive care wards.
