Two people from Plovdiv are the new cases of coronavirus infection in the country. The 35-year-old man and 60-year-old woman experiencing the symptoms of the disease have been hospitalized. The total number of COVID-19 patients in Bulgaria rises to 220. The information was provided by Maj-Gen Prof. Ventislav Mutafchiyski during the regular briefing of the National Operation Headquarters.

There are two worrying news according to Maj-Gen Prof. Mutafchiyski with the first one being that in less than a day there are 100,000 new confirmed cases worldwide. This is a worrying global trend and according to the general Italy is catching up on China in terms of virus spreading.

The second worrying news is the coronavirus test results from the recently released cruise ship. 17 days after its release, there are still traces of the virus on board.

Maj-Gen Prof. Mutafchiyski explained that the virus proves to be “surprisingly resilient” which calls for “fanatic” disinfection measures.

The Bulgarian Development Bank donated 492,000 Bulgarian levs to hospitals in Pleven, Lom, Vidim, Vratsa, Lovech, and Ruse. Maj-Gen Prof. Mutafchiyski also highlighted that there is an increasing number of donators which is much appreciated and needed and speaks for mobilization of the nation in general.
