„The city of Plovdiv is about to finally part with one of its symbols – the Plovdiv Fair. The fair complex in Plovdiv, established more than a century ago, is today the largest in Southeast Europe. With its nearly 400 acres of land, 140 thousand square meters of covered and open exhibition space, a convention center with 17 halls, a logistics area with warehouses and offices, a hotel – the Plovdiv Fair is an attractive place for any businessman. Even more so if it is given to you as a gift.“

This is what „We Continue the Change“ warned about. They distributed a position to the media, which says more:

„In 2006-2007, the ownership of the fair, which had been entirely state-owned, was restructured. Plovdiv Municipality and private investor Georgi Gergov became shareholders. The theft of the symbol of Plovdiv has been going on for 15 years. It began during the Triple Coalition and unfolded during the governance of Boyko Borissov and it will end under the last GERB mayor of Plovdiv.

After the overthrow of the government of Kiril Petkov, the Plovdiv businessman, close to President Radev and honorary consul of Russia in Plovdiv, Gergov, launched a coordinated offensive for the final appropriation of the fair. Thus it came to December 20, 2022, when the Plovdiv municipal councilors from GERB, MRF, and Gergov’s puppets from BSP, decided to tear out the heart of Plovdiv and give the Plovdiv Fair to Georgi Gergov.

Thus, the slogan of the fair – „We create new opportunities“ – was transformed into a real political action in favour of a businessman with a dubious reputation. At a time when the European Union is imposing sanctions on Russia because of the military aggression in Ukraine, the Euro-Atlanticists from GERB gave the Plovdiv Fair to the Honorary Consul of Russia in Plovdiv.

„We Continue the Change“ calls on the mayor of Plovdiv to exercise his right of blocking quota and to stop this apostate work of the municipal council, and the symbol of Plovdiv – the Plovdiv Fair – to continue to be part of the city!“
