„Vazrazhdane“ political party firmly stated its political will to stop the plan to introduce the euro as the official currency in Bulgaria. The political organization pointed out that for 4 years it has been consistently defending this point of view, with arguments presented on the basis of the analyzes of its economic team. According to its members, their motives were confirmed in television interviews with Steve Hanke, known as the father of the currency board. In a position circulated to the media, the party also said:
„With our actions and organized protests, „Vazrazhdane“ managed to slow down the procedure for the destruction of the Bulgarian lev, and with it our financial sovereignty.
The delay provoked by us today leads to a great rush on the part of the next American government to eliminate our financial sovereignty by destroying the Bulgarian lev.
We remind you that the two caretaker governments of Stefan Yanev started the procedure for adopting the euro without having this right and without consulting the Bulgarian people. There is no political situation or conjuncture that justifies these actions, which are tantamount to national treason.
Yanev’s governments exceeded the powers given to them by the people, because the caretaker government has one task – to hold fair elections, which we see today that it has failed to fulfill. However, the successors of the NATO general continue to perform the tasks assigned to them, and with their decisions they again protect not the Bulgarian but the foreign national interests.
Bulgaria continues to rank last in terms of income in the European Union, in our country there is a record inflation, in which the eurozone itself is „burning“. Replacing the Bulgarian lev with the euro at such a time would be suicidal. It will lead to even greater impoverishment of the Bulgarian, which will already be a threat to his life and health, because most people live on the minimum wage.
The decision of the government to introduce the euro quickly, recklessly and without consulting the people is dangerous, our homeland is in danger and we as a people must save the Bulgarian lev in order to survive. Currently in our country there is a Currency Board, in Bulgaria there is a buffer that guarantees its stability. This buffer is worth over BGN 56 billion, which is in the BNB as a guarantee. As soon as Bulgaria joins the Eurozone, part of this BGN 56 billion will go to the European Central Bank. The other part will remain at the disposal of the Bulgarian government, which at some point will have an amount that is almost as much as our state budget.
This will be the largest one-time financing of the state budget, which will have happened in the history of the 3rd Bulgarian state. To give half of this money to the Petkov government, which has shown that it is illiterate, incompetent and uses only lies, is to bankrupt our country. Bankruptcy in which there will be no salvation, because there is a mechanism for entering the eurozone, but no one for leaving. If we give these over BGN 56 billion, there is no going back.
As no political party in the 47th National Assembly, apart from us from “Vazrazhdane”, stands clearly and firmly behind the Bulgarian lev, we are ready to take action even if we do not receive support in Parliament.
Then we have the next means – to collect at least 200,000 signatures for the National Assembly to consider the proposal for a referendum, and at least 400,000 to make this proposal mandatory for the ruling party.
We are facing a new, very important battle. A battle to save the Bulgarian lev and preserve our financial independence. A battle that we must and will win together and at all costs. So far, “Vazrazhdane” have managed to slow down the national traitors who are destroying our country, but in order to stop them we need the support of the Bulgarian people.
The government will soon launch a powerful propaganda campaign in support of the euro, in which BGN 10 million are likely to be invested. An investment that aims to divide us, set us against each other on the subject, destroy us as a people and a state and make us even more dependent on the Western world. It is up to us and our unity on the subject to preserve our homeland, which is in danger.
