The National Assembly adopted a declaration on the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. MP from „We Continue the Change“ Mihail Kamberov published the text of the document on Facebook:

Declaration on the aggressive military actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria,

– having regard to the Charter of the United Nations

– drawing on the outcome of the Helsinki Process and the Final Act of the Conference of 1 August 1975 and related subsequent OSCE documents

– aking into account the agreements reached in the Minsk Memorandum of 19 September 2014 and the package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements adopted and signed on 12 February 2015.

– recalling the texts of the Budapest Memorandum on Security Guarantees in connection with Ukraine’s accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons of 5 December 1994.

– remaining consistent in supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic development.

IT DECLARES:

  • It strongly condemns the flagrant violation of international law by the Russian Federation and the violation of its territorial integrity through military intervention against Ukraine.
  • It supports its partners and allies in the EU and NATO in discussing a package of measures, including sanctions, to de-escalate the conflict.
  • It supports the Bulgarian government to take the necessary measures commensurate with the seriousness of the challenges to the international security architecture.
  • It supports the Bulgarian government to consider and offer assistance to Ukraine, corresponding to the capabilities of the Bulgarian state.
  • It supports the Bulgarian Government to insist that the protection of the lives and health of civilians in the region be an absolute priority.
  • It supports the Bulgarian Government to assist in obtaining immediate assistance from Bulgarian citizens and Bulgarians with Ukrainian citizenship living in Ukraine, including the need for evacuation.
  • The Bulgarian government is expected to propose and present a plan to deal with the consequences of the hostilities.
  • The Russian Federation is urged to immediately cease hostilities and return to full compliance with international law.
