Bulgarian president Rumen Radev discussed with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and some other ministers, as well as members of the National Operational Headquarters, the measures taken by the state against the spread of the coronavirus in Bulgaria. The Head of State urged all of us to be sensitive to the government’s actions and efforts. According to him, the country has managed to contain the contagion so far.

Radev said he was hopeful because people listened to the call from the cabinet and the National Operations Headquarters. According to him, citizens observe social exclusion and distance.

The president also commented on the footage of doctors without masks and demanded that the media should no longer be shown. He pointed out that before our industry started exporting protective equipment, our industry should provide such for our native doctors, law enforcement officers and staff of large enterprises in our country.

Radev urged the institutions to “measure up the talk” and to follow all of the instructions of the HQ and the Council of Ministers. He stressed that panic should not be created through the messages sent.

The president has also strongly criticized speculators by announcing:

“It is threatening to make a profit and the tragedy of other people, don’t do it, it’s not worthy!”

The Head of State stressed that this situation can only be overcome if the institutions are united.

“The crisis comes with calmness, reason and adequate measures. I call for there to be no panic, for institutions to set an example for discipline, to show that there is a state and the state is working”, he said.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said that protective clothing would not be exported until the internal market is secured. He stressed that the country should be secured at percentage of 1000.

He announced that the membrane cloth is produced in two cities in the country – Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo. The industry can make 14 kilometers of fabric a day and between 2000 and 8000 protective suits.

In addition, Bulgaria has huge capacities for the production of alcohol. Borisov set the prime minister of Croatia as an example, who complained to him over the phone that they did not have any. And Bulgaria has tons of alcohol in its reserve.

The Prime Minister stressed that it is forbidden to leave the country practically except for treatment. Yesterday an order to halt the excursions until April 13 was issued by the Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova.

“We will no longer allow these experiments – Go at work, at the pharmacy, at the bank, at the grocery store and then go at home!”, said Borisov to the citizens.
