Bulgarian businessman Plamen Bobokov is back in custody for not paying on time the bail of 1 million leva.
Bobokov and his brother were detained for the “Garbage affair” in which Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Krasimir Zhivkov was also involved. The ongoing investigation is for organized crime and illegal import of garbage.
A large amount of evidence has been collected, incl. accounting reports, contracts, and power of attorneys as well as items of value and luxurious automobiles.
Among the evidence are CVs of staff members of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. Documents with personal information of the attorney general leading the prosecution against Vasil Bozhkov were also obtained.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov signed an order of discharge for Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Krasmiri Zhivkov on July 1. He was replaced by Slaveya Stoyanova.
