Zero tolerance for corruption – this emphasis was put in the negotiations for the formation of a government in the Internal Security sector, which are currently underway. This is a top priority of „We Continue the Change“ political party. And as such he was nominated by the BSP representatives.

When we comment on the security of the country we consider that this is one of the main indicators of the standard of living. The role of the state against abuse must be strengthened, because we see that there has been some retreat in recent years. We will work for a high security society, peaceful working and living conditions with an impenetrable firewall against crime and zero corruption. The main objective is to stop the pressure of domestic crime on entire regions of the country and by creating an effective response against all crimes. We believe that efforts should be focused on reducing the main criminogenic factors.“ Ivan Ivanov said.

He stressed that international organized crime must also be curtailed. The BSP believes that the Security Sector and the Ministry of Interior should be considered from two aspects – first, the state of the system itself, the method of payment, adequate training and, on the other hand, the receptivity of citizens to the ministry’s actions and fulfillment of its commitment. to maintain order in the country.

For all these elements to work, several things are needed. First, an overview of the ministry itself. There should be within 3 to 6 months a complete analysis. This includes a review of all structures and units that are in operation. To date, the Ministry of Interior has the largest budget in the country and tends to grow. Social dialogue in the ministry must be in place. In our opinion, a completely new law for the ministry should be drafted.“, Ivan Ivanov further commented.

The BSP also called for an end to political engineering, because in the last 12 years this has been the case and the level of trust in the Ministry of Interior has fallen sharply. The Socialists set out their basic goals in the Internal Security sector:

  1. Domestic crime should be limited in small settlements from 53 per 10,000 to 33 per 10,000.
  2. To reduce the number of thefts and recidivism by 20%.
  3. Significant reduction of crimes committed by minority groups.
  4. Disrupting the main forms of crime in the economy. Tools should be put in place for this purpose.
  5. Stable tendency to decrease the number of drug addictions in Bulgaria. By 2025, there should be a reduction of twice compared to 2018.

„There Is Such A People“ called for depoliticization and demafiotization in the system of the Ministry of Interior. According to them, the training is extremely low. The political party also wants the sector to be a guarantor of security and compliance with the law, because while the employees of the Ministry of Interior violate the laws, this cannot happen. They stressed that there should be real civilian control over security.
