What is the work of the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property (CCACIP) is a mystery, a black box. The topic was commented by journalist Mirela Veselinova.

She reminded „BNR“ that there were criticisms about the concept of the creation of the Commission as a mega-organ with many powers and unclear purpose as early as 2018. It is a public secret that there „are people with obvious political appointment, avatars of the backstage„.

„The fight against corruption was taken over by a government that has ruled for 12 years in the name of corruption and based on corruption.“, Veselinova said.

According to her, the CCACIP will be the center of attention of the reforms that will be undertaken by the new governing figures in the country. The Commission has a plan to conduct an investigation, focusing on prominent political figures, as well as to investigate cases that have not expired.

The journalist is convinced that in our country „we have a wrong philosophy about what the fight against corruption is“.

Mirela Veselinova reminded that the CCACIP failed to find violations in the „ApartmentGate“ scandal, nor did it find a discrepancy in the case of former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov, who lived for years for free in a luxurious property of his businessman friend. All this raises many questions about the effectiveness of this body and its transparency.
