„In the coming weeks, we will work actively with the Bulgarian Medical Union to help doctors know everything about each vaccine and be of maximum benefit to patients on the subject.“

This was commented by the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during a meeting with the leadership of the Bulgarian Medical Union. The Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov also took part in it, commenting:

„We are working on creating a form of informed consent for all Bulgarian patients. A team from the Ministry of Health will look for answers to all the questions asked by Bulgarian patients, so that the information can reach such that they can make their informed choice about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.“

We remind you that a large percentage of physicians, and citizens in general, refuse to be immunized because they do not believe in the vaccine and claim that they have not received enough information about it. They are worried about it being made too quickly, that it has not been tested long enough, not much is known about its side effects, and they refuse to experiment with their health. Experts are also concerned that, in the event of lasting negative consequences, victims cannot seek redress against the vaccine manufacturer or the country in which it was produced.

During the meeting, the issues of equating antigen tests with PCR tests in terms of quarantine, financial support for first-line medical staff, preparation for the issuance of electronic prescriptions, as well as improving communication between the BMA and the NHIF were also discussed. Everyone agreed that even closer coordination was needed in the fight against the pandemic. In this context, the Bulgarian Medical Union will propose a representative to participate in the work of the National Operational Headquarters.

Shortly afterwards, Minister Prof. Kostadin Angelov revealed something extremely worrying – that the health authorities are not yet ready with the final version of the measures for the safe conduct of the elections. He made the comment during his inspection of how the country’s first temporary outsourced immunization office against COVID-19 works.

„Today we had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Donchev together with representatives of the Health Control, where we discussed all the proposals of the Health Control for maximum safe provision of the election process in Bulgaria. We are not yet ready with the final version of these measures. Our main task is to hold the elections within the specified legal deadline in the way it will be determined, and our commitment is to organize their safety for all Bulgarian citizens, including the participants in the sectional election commissions.“

There is currently no talk of postponing the parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for March 28. However, according to a number of analysts, this is not ruled out and they are worried about this fact. They commented that the protests in the country, which continue to this day, show the people’s desire for change in government. Experts even recommend finding an option in which the quarantined have the right to vote, so that they are not deprived of this constitutional right.
