The main occupation of the 46-year-old Serbian Milutin Korchula was in the field of construction. Until recently, he had glued tiles to support his family and his daughter, who is a student. So until the day when his colleague offered him to quickly earn the sum of 1000 euros – in about a day. For Korčula, this was a lot of money and he agreed, the lawyer said.

From Belgrade, he had to take a „Mercedes“ to Bulgaria and pick up „some tourists“ – to transport them to Sofia. The exact location from where he had to pick them up was set on his mobile phone. They gave him money for his stay in our country. The remuneration of 1,000 euros was to be taken when the work was done.

Meanwhile, on September 18, a group of about 21 migrants were waiting for him near Sredets /Burgas region. It turned out that Korchula had to take half of them – 7 got into the compartment and three into the trunk. The man told his lawyer that he was scared and did not expect such a situation at all. There was also another „Mercedes“ in which the remaining 11 illegal refugees got into. So far, the second vehicle has not been identified. In this way, Korchula managed to cross the road from Sredets to Burgas, passing through the seaside town, but around 06:00 p.m. on  the „Trakia“ highway, near the section to Bulgarovo, he was stopped by police officers. The trafficker stopped immediately, then he was detained, providing full cooperation to the authorities.

The man declared in the courtroom:

“I’m sorry for what I did! I admit my mistake!

Each migrant paid 4,500 euros to reach Germany. Today, the Burgas District Court decided to leave Korchula in custody.
