The Minister of Tourism Angelina Angelkova announced that the government is working on a measure to support the tourism industry as soon as the state of emergency is over.

The sector demanded her resignation on the pretext that “there is no dialogue with the minister” and “there are pseudo measures”. In response, Angelkova said it was important for her to do her job now. She understood the industry’s resentment but stressed that all government measures were aimed at them, including interest-free loan opportunities.

She mentioned that 48% of the applicants for the 60/40 measure were from the tourism sector. He said such measures are important in order to provide a breath of breath for workers to follow up. Add that a grant scheme of up to BGN 15,000 is forthcoming for micro and small enterprises and is being developed for medium-sized businesses. The tourism industry will also benefit from these new measures.

The Minister points out that many of the Operational Programs are specifically targeted at sectors such as tourism. In a meeting with European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services, Thierry Breton will demand that 20% of post-emergency assistance measures be directed directly to tourism.

She confirmed that a measure was being taken in Bulgaria to start immediately after the state of emergency and to support the sector. He believes it is important to renew the dialogue on the Guarantee Fund, which was discontinued in 2016.

Angelkova expressed her hopes that preparations for the summer season on June 15 could start, and for him to start on July 1.
