Prime Minister Boyko Borisov warned that there аre already economic losses for Bulgaria due to the crisis of coronavirus. At the beginning of a regular government meeting he announced that we were losing tens of millions every day and the reason for that is fall of consumption. According to him the world will enter a new severe financial and economic crisis.

Borisov announced that losses only from fuels are 15% so far in Bulgaria. This issue will be discussed tonight at 18:00 PM at an extraordinary European Council meeting in which the Prime Minister of Bulgaria will take part.

Ventsislav Mutafchiiski, professor and head of the National Operational Headquarters, said that in his opinion, where no infection was detected, there was no reason to take drastic measures. However he recommended that social distance be respected. Such a measure can be applied to the cultural institutions in Bulgaria, for example.

They have already expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that the events will be held without public which will get more losses so they asked for subsidies from the state. According to Mutafchiiski tickets can be sold through the venue.

Borisov expressed his displeasure with the comments that the state did not want to pay subsidies. He said that BGN 50,000 or BGN 100,000 was not the goal at the moment. The Prime Minister ordered the Minister of Culture Boil Banov to gather the guild and explain the situation to them.

Mutafchiyski said that when it comes to halls that gather thousands of people there must be a withhold from such events. He mentioned this is a worldwide measure.

Borisov stressed that the government makes decisions only on the recommendations of the National Operational Headquarters because of including specialists.

At the same time, at the Council of Ministers, journalists were given masks this morning and were only allowed to come in the building after measuring their temperature. Ministers however did not wear masks at the beginning of the meeting.
