The executive bureau of the BSP filed a signal about another, in their opinion, inadmissible interference in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for April 2 this year. On the left, they believe that the interference is from the office of President Rumen Radev. They appealed to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

In its alert, the BSP recalled the interim report of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) on the early parliamentary elections.

„It clearly stated that the president and the caretaker cabinet were recognisable in the pre-election environment with critical statements mainly directed against the BSP,“, the party leadership wrote.

According to the leaders of the left, the inadmissible behavior continues even now, as evidenced by the public statements in the national media of Caretaker Minister of Justice Krum Zarkov and Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov.

The alert presents an extract from the programme „Why, Mr Minister?“, broadcast on 5 February on „bTV“, in which Caretaker Minister Zarkov makes negative and false statements and suggestions about the state, role, future and policies of the BSP.

In his participation in the „Panorama“ show, Deputy Prime Minister Pekanov also expressed an extremely negative opinion against the BSP. He accuses the party of populism, as well as a lack of original left-wing values and ideas.

The Executive Bureau of the Left defined these statements of the caretaker ministers as gross interference in the internal party affairs of the BSP.

The leadership of the party recalled that according to the Constitution one of the main tasks of any caretaker government is to conduct fair and transparent elections and not to interfere in them. They also expressed concern that this tendentious negative attitude of the government against the BSP would intensify as the April 2 elections approached.
