42 new COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths over the last 24 hours in Bulgaria

There are 42 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 new coronavirus patients admitted to hospitals in Bulgaria over the last 24 hours, according to information provided by the head of the National Operations Headquarters, General Ventsislav Mutafchyiski, during the regular virus briefing from this morning.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reaches 825 – a 5.4% increase on a daily basis. The active cases in the country are 646.

In the capital city of Sofia, there are 19 new cases, in Vidin 7, in Smolyan 3, and 2 in Stara Zagora and Kyustendil respectively. Single cases have been registered in the cities of Varna, Burgas, Ruse, Pleven, Blagoevgrad, Sliven, Haskovo, Yambol, and Pazardzhik.

Of the new cases, 24 are women and 18 are men. Two are children from Panicherevo, who are being treated in a hospital in Stara Zagora.

There is an increase in the number of infected health workers. In the hospital of “Pirogov,” there are 12 people and in the city of Vidin 5.

The number of recovered patients is 141, 19 of which have been discharged over the last 24 hours.

Since yesterday morning, there are 3 new coronavirus-related deaths, raising the total number of deceased people to 40. One of the people passed away is a 64-year-old man from the hospital of “Pirogov”. The second case is a 68-years-old woman from a hospital in Sliven suffering from diabetes and ischemic heart disease. The third death is of a 62-years-old woman from “Pirogov” suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
