The fight against COVID-19 includes several steps. The first and most crucial point is the administrative measures taken by the government. The second point is our personal hygiene. This is exactly what Prof. Emil Vodenicharov of the Department of Hygiene at the Medical University of Sofia told.

Prof. Vodenicharov explained that the new coronavirus can live in the air for too short time and remains longer on the metal elements. The most dangerous places are the entry doors.

The virus penetrates through the mucous membranes – nose, mouth and eyes. According to the expert, the „biggest culprit“ for carrying it is the hands, so they should be washed before every meal and  medications. For women, their hands should be clean during makeup application, as well as if they put their lenses on their eyes. Hands should be washed with soap.

The specialist added that vegetables and fruits should be washed with water, but not with disinfectants. According to him, the shoes should be taken off at the entrance of the dwelling space and the outerwear should be taken out.

The dirtiest accessory is the phone, added Prof. Vodenicharov. He explained that scientists have found that it contains 10 times more microorganisms than toilet bowls do and identified it as a „contagion container“.

While cleaning your home and have no disinfectant, you can use bleach and a steam cleaner.
