On October 2, people will be able to choose between two options – to continue witnessing the looting of the state or to continue the change that everyone needs, Konstantin Bachiyski commented.

According to him, one of the most necessary changes for Burgas and the region is achieving economic recovery. It will happen through three strategic projects embedded in the „Bachiyski Plan“. They are interconnected and need the support of voters to be implemented.

The first is the expansion of the Malko Tarnovo border checkpoint and the construction of a new 4-lane road Burgas – Malko Tarnovo. For the implementation of the idea during the mandate of the „Petkov“ cabinet, on the initiative of Konstantin Bachiyski, real actions were taken. A memorandum was signed between Bulgaria and Turkey, according to which the capacity of the Malko Tarnovo border checkpoint will be increased, and besides passengers, cargo will also be able to be processed at the border checkpoint.

This project is related to the construction of the Black Sea Highway between Burgas and Varna. Thus, the cargo flow from Turkey will be provided with fast and secure access to Burgas Airport and Ravnets Airport, to the Port of Burgas, to Northeast Bulgaria, and from there with a direct connection to the Port of Constanta and the trade routes to Moldova, Ukraine, Russia and the Baltic States. In the south, the traffic will be able to be divided towards the renovated Malko Tarnovo checkpoint and towards the future new tourist point near Rezovo, which is also foreseen in the Bulgarian-Turkish memorandum.

The modernization of Burgas Port is the second project inextricably linked to the great economic change of Southeast Bulgaria.

The original concept expressed in the old master plan was to replace the ship berths with retail, offices and tourist attractions.

If we bet only on the retail outlets, we will lose in the long term. It is time to admit that there is no way restaurants will replace ships and that will lead to serious economic growth. Historically, the city has grown along with the development of the port, as the servicing of ships generates additional income and jobs due to the accompanying activities in the handling of cargo,„, Konstantin Bachiyski explained.

It is expected that the modernization of Burgas Port and the construction of the new deep-sea terminal will lead to growth in the local economy.

Both projects gain meaning and economic logic mostly in close interaction and complementarity with the most important third project.

The transformation of the military airbase in Ravnets, which has been unused for years, into a modern industrial park with the status of a Free Duty Free Zone with its own cargo airport.

This is an opportunity to create an object of global importance in Burgas, which will attract investors and free capital from all over the world, as well as generate new jobs, Konstantin Bachiyski said.

In its final phase of implementation, the project envisages the creation of about 8,000 jobs.

Thanks to its potential, the concept of the transformation of the old military air base was adopted by the „government of change“ as a working economic model and was included in the coalition’s program. All managing partners united around the vision of „combining an existing airport with a duty-free zone and an industrial park“ that would give a competitive advantage to the region and the country. The implementation of these three projects will lead to the transformation of Burgas and the region into an attractive center for investments for years to come, Konstantin Bachiyski believes.

He is firm in his intention to work for the implementation of the three important steps towards changes in Southeast Bulgaria.
