The Trade Union for Bulgarian Medical Specialists again organized a protest in front of the Ministry of Health. It will be held tomorrow at 11:00, the organization announced on Facebook.

Again, it is irrelevant for us who is sitting in the ministerial chair and from which party he is… more important is what he is doing??? And so far there has been profound silence from the Ministry of Health.“, Maya Ilieva is adamant.

She stressed that they are neither road workers nor restaurant keeprs. However, they are on the front line in the country.

It does not matter whether it concerns hospitals, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, offices, psychiatries, nursing homes. Those who work around the clock have already worked hundreds of hours of overtime, without leave, with low wages, constantly at risk! This also applies to part of the business, because it thrives with this „pandemic“ – more sick people, more money, but they go into specific pockets.“, said Head of the union Maya Ilieva.

She is of the opinion that the critical minimum of medical specialists, for which they have warned, has already been reached.

The closure of hospital wards due to lack of nurses has begun, and the time is certainly not far off when hospitals will be closing as well. Unfortunately, these will be state and municipal hospitals, because the Ministry of Health takes good care of some „fat men with fat wallets“ to get licenses to open another, unnecessary private hospitals funded with public money. How did you not understand, „gentlemen“ politicians (former and future) – not hospitals, but nurses are needed?“, the position of Maya Ilieva states.

She is adamant that no trade can be made with hospitals. Furthermore, medical facilities cannot exist without nurses. And in order to have quality health care, there must be established standards.

Do you ask yourself what causes the high mortality rate in Bulgaria?“ Well, there are no staff! Even if we were „eyes on the back“ and if we were „centipedes“, we could not physically take care of so many patients. One nurse per 25-30 patients is „murder“, both for the patients and for us.„, the dissatisfied nurses are adamant.

The protesters want to be regulated by the state and not depend on directors who are millionaires and subjective bosses or on the number of patients in hospitals and the number of children in schools, nurseries and kindergartens.

And no, we are not ashamed that we go out for money, we do not owe anything to anyone! We also have families, loans and high electricity bills too, we will have to pay. Therefore, the decision is yours, „gentlemen“ (former, future, the same) on the „chain“ – whether business or people’s lives!„, Maya Ilieva added firmly.
