I am a person who does not make vain promises, but I bet all my authority, my life experience, built over years, that I will work honestly in compliance with the rule of law and in the interest of society. I will expect the same from the caretaker ministers.

This was announced by caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev during the official ceremony in the Coat of Arms Hall during the presentation of the structure, composition and priorities of the caretaker government, “FOCUS’ reported. He thanked for the trust and stressed that it is a great honor for him to be Prime minister, as well as a great responsibility.

Our main priority is to organize free, fair and democratic elections in strict compliance with the law. I expect all institutions to work in a synchronised way. The term of office of the caretaker government is short. I cannot commit that we will be able to solve the problems accumulated over the years.„, said the caretaker Prime Minister.

The caretaker Prime Minister said he would insist that the cabinet work transparently and with accountability to citizens. Society expects more meaningful and adequate speech and action, he added. According to him, only with joint efforts can results be achieved and he reminded that we are in a crisis caused by the global COVID pandemic.

We will work to lend a hand and restore dialogue with Bulgarian business, including small and medium-sized businesses, which are mainly affected by the pandemic, but are a major employer and provide food for thousands of Bulgarian families.„, he said.

President Rumen Radev, for his part, said that although the short life of the 45th National Assembly was not in vain and remained a dramatic milestone in society’s exit from authoritarianism and corruption.

As of today, I am appointing a caretaker government. It will rule Bulgaria until a new regular government is formed, which I hope will be elected by the next 46th National Assembly after the elections scheduled for July 11.“

The Head of State also commented that the 45th parliament was marked by a lot of emotions: „There have been long-held opinions. The spirit of parliamentarism and free speech was revived. The omerta on which the compromised management model is based has cracked. However, this parliament did not live up to people’s expectations for a new government based on sound foundations of integrity and the law.“, he said, adding that he said it was a lesson for all parties on the eve of the new election campaign.

The Head of State added that people from parties on the Left, Center, and Right enter the office.

Politically neutral professionals, proven administrators and experts, freelancers and expressionists of public discontent. Academic personalities. It proves what, unfortunately, was not achieved in the 45th National Assembly – that it is possible for democrats of different colors to overcome outdated divisions and the red lines between them, to unite around the cause of a free and just Bulgaria.“, Radev said and added his conviction that our future as a nation depends on our ability to unite around honesty, law and patriotism.

„I believe that the democratic unity of individuals from different horizons will lead us on the path to a democratic, dignified and prosperous Bulgaria. We are facing difficult months, a heavy legacy and increased resistance from the forces of the status quo. In this situation, this cabinet has important tasks – to ensure the proper functioning of the state, to ensure fair elections, declaring war on the vote, to reveal the true picture of the state and to take a step towards strengthening statehood, to give confidence to Bulgarians that the country can be governed honestly, transparently and responsibly.“
