Prime Minister Boyko Borissov visited the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, where “BulBIO” is housed and where we will meet the first delivery of vaccine in specialized refrigerators. He was accompanied by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov, who commented:

„Here are the two refrigerators with a temperature of minus 71 degrees. We can collect over 100,000 doses of vaccine in just one. According to initial data, the first shipment that will arrive will be 125,000.“

The Minister of Health added that such refrigerators will be located in the Sofia RHI, one will be installed today in the RHI in Burgas, and next week an organization will be created for the other RHIs in the country.

„Together with Prof. Gigov on Monday we gather the directors of the six RHIs, which are responsible for the six regions in the country, in order to create the local logistical regimes of behavior and distribution of the vaccine, the organization of the target groups.“

The Chairman of the National Operational Headquarters and Chief of the Military Medical Academy Ventsislav Mutafchiyski noted that in order for our refrigerators to be of maximum service, one will be located in Varna, the second in Plovdiv and the third in Sofia.

Minister Angelov revealed that 11,000 Remdesivir vials are stored in the warehouse of „BulBIO“, and another 6,000 vials will arrive on Monday. According to him, the drug is available to hospitals around the clock, as it is free and available to all patients in Bulgaria. Borissov added that from the data he sees at the moment, about 2,500 people are being cured a day, which means that doctors and medical workers have generally managed to cure many patients. However, they were still worried about the death toll.

The director of „BulBIO“ Rumen Kofinov also acquainted the Prime Minister with the progress of the projects, for which the government undertook to help in April this year. Then Kofinov presented to Borisov the investment projects developed by „BulBIO‘. The first is for a new BCG vaccine production line, which will be able to increase the production capacity of the vaccine for which the company has a license.

The second project is to expand the production of human blood products – immunoglobulins, which is extremely important for the most seriously ill and is of strategic importance for our health. The third project envisages the restoration of the production of animal plasma in horses for preparations for the treatment of diphtheria, botulinum poisoning, tetanus and snake poisoning. Kofinov pointed out that the renovation of the laboratory, which took place in the spring, has already been completed.

At the same time, we remind you that there are critics of the COVID vaccine, among them is Assoc. Prof. Atanas Mangarov. Yesterday he commented to „Novini.bg“ the adopted National plan for vaccination against coronavirus. According to him, at least 5 years are needed for the creation of a quality vaccine and its introduction for use. He did not understand the current rush and pointed out that it was against the rules.

„People have to take responsibility for their immunization, which is not very ethical, because the role of the state is to regulate and bring order to the use of medicines. If they are not tested according to existing rules in medicine, they carry great risks. Unfortunately, at the moment the manufacturers are released from these risks and responsibilities for possible unwanted side effects of the vaccine „, motivates Assoc. Prof. Mangarov.
