Rosatom will partner with General Electric and Framatom for Belene NPP

Russia’s state corporation Rosatom has signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) with Framatome SAS (France) and General Electric Steam Power as part of the process of selecting strategic investors for the Belene Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was announced by the Russian corporation.

The memorandums were signed by Kiril Komarov, Rosatom’s First Deputy General Director for Corporate Development and International Business, Frederic Lulier, Senior Executive Vice President for Regional Sales at Framatome SAS, and Mikael Kerule, President of GE Steam Power.

In accordance with the agreements, the companies will work together to participate in the tender for the construction of the Belene NPP. As part of the agreement, if Rosatom becomes a strategic investor in the project based on the results of the tender, General Electric will be considered a partner for the equipment of the engine room and turbo generator based on Arabelle technology, and Framatome SAS – a partner with the equipment. of the Automated Systems for Control of Technological Processes (ACS TP).

“The signed memorandums testify to the constant high level of trust between our companies. I am sure that the international cooperation between the leaders in the nuclear industry will help to create the best financial and technical conditions for the realization of the Belene NPP project”, said Kiril Komarov.

Rosatom, Framatome SAS and General Electric are among the five candidates to implement the Belene NPP, along with the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and the Korean Hydro-Nuclear Corporation (KHNP).

Rosatom is already successfully cooperating with Framatome SAS and General Electric on international projects, including the Paks-2 NPP (Hungary) and the Hanhikivi-1 NPP (Finland). The cooperation with General Electric is carried out within the projects for Akkuyu NPP (Turkey) and El Dabaa NPP (Egypt), where a joint venture between GE and Rosatom is the supplier of the equipment for the turbine island.
