„It must be clear that the road to constitutional change goes through the immediate resignations of the government and the chief prosecutor, the self-dissolution of parliament and early elections. The proposals for changes in the Constitution are aimed only at gaining time and concreting the status quo. The mafia is trying to put Bulgaria in a dead end. He is trying to hide corruption, drawers, records, lawlessness and racketeering behind the illiterate chatter about a new Constitution. Today’s parliament is discredited, it has already lost both legitimacy and dignity. You see how parties change positions in 24 hours. The only true decision is the self-dissolution of this National Assembly.”

This was stated by President Rumen Radev, who is taking part in the celebration of the 143rd anniversary of the Shipka Epic on Shipka Peak. He pointed out that the head of state has always been the patron of these celebrations and today they are organized on a civic initiative, without any party colors. According to him, the government repeated the „shameful scenario of March 3“, when all the celebrations took place, and the scenario was for the head of state not to go up to Shipka and not to speak.

„Some people obviously like to ban gatherings of free people, but as you can see, this will not happen.“

In his political commentary, Radev noted that he had read the draft of a new GERB constitution and advised citizens, experts and political scientists „not to fall into Borissov’s trap“. According to him, radical talk unites people against the mafia.

“We have to stop the mafia”, he said.
