Queues called out to the Labor Offices in Bulgaria. Thousands of people have lost their jobs so far due to the proliferation of Covid-19 and the discontinuation of a number of businesses.

Last week, 12,660 people were registered as unemployed, 10,000 of them lost their jobs because of the coronavirus.

And since the start of the state of emergency, 19,555 people have filed unemployment papers. A significant increase in applications was observed in the second week, reaching up to 12,660 people or 2,523 people a day.

At the same time, start-ups are dwindling. Only 1959 people found a position last week. In the first week of the state of emergency, their number was 3221. For comparison, in the same period of 2019, 6000 Bulgarians were found in a week of work.

The growth of new unemployed is almost triple compared to last year.

The total number of people without livelihood is 213,700 till March 27, according to figures released by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva.

At the same time, very few people sign up for the 60/40 scheme. On Tuesday, there were only three people.
