Numerous protest by the restaurant industry are taking place in front of the Council of Ministers. It takes place as a concert and was joined by representatives of the sector from other cities such as Burgas and Stara Zagora. It was announced from the rostrum that it was not necessary to give speeches in order for the authorities to understand the messages.

A few days ago, the sector announced the resignation of the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov, because the establishments remain closed despite the reduction of morbidity and mortality in our country. Today he commented that he did not understand this position. And he asked why they wanted his leftovers, since he thought he was smart.

The restaurant industry is not of the same opinion. They have been closed for months, and nearly a third of them are virtually bankrupt. Thousands of Bulgarian citizens have lost their jobs, and at the same time the state is not fulfilling its promises to pay them the small compensations it provides them.

The government of Boyko Borissov is currently supporting them only in words. And there are new and new promises that the funds will be paid by the end of this month and excuses that there were many sick people in the administration and that is why there was a delay. It turned out that there were even people who had to return money and this was revealed by representatives of the sector and by the leader of the Civic Platform „Stand Up.BG“ Maya Manolova.

Today’s protest is entitled „March of Freedom“, and a procession through the streets of the capital is planned. Demonstrators are pushing to resume work on February 1st and are threatening to open despite the ban in protest. They are not afraid of the possibility of fines being imposed on them by the same government.

The protest was organized by the Association of Restaurants and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria.
