New COVID-19 death case in Peshtera

The total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Bulgaria reached 541 – a 3.6% increase compared to last night, according to data provided by the National Operational Headquarters.

The number of new COVID-19 cases from yesterday is 19 with six people already placed in hospital care. According to gen. Prof. Ventsislav Mutafchyiski, 15 of the cases are registered in Sofia – one being treated in “Pirogov” hospital, two in Infectious Diseases Hospital, six in Emergency Medical Center, and one in Military Medical Academy. The new cases in Infectious Diseases Hospital are from the medical staff of the hospital. A total of 85 doctors and nurses from the hospital were tested for the disease.

There is one new case in Blagoevgrad, one in Stara Zagora, one in Haskovo, and one in Smolyan.

The total number of casualties in the country so far is 21, including the latest case from Peshtera. The patient in question is a 72-year old suffering from multiple comorbidities who got intubated a couple of days ago.

There is no information for the outbreak reaching new regions of Bulgaria.

The number of infected people among the medical staff is 30 – 17 of which doctors, 8 nurses, and 5 general hospital staff.
