“We brought in radiators that have already been removed as obsolete appliances. We plan to present them to the management of Bulgargaz. We will take similar radiators to the Energy and Water Regulation Commission, and to the Ministry of Energy, and to the Council of Ministers, and to the Capital Municipality of Fandakova, because people no longer need radiators. These are appliances that are no longer necessary due to the lack of gas and expensive heating, which this winter will become a luxury due to the carelessness of the state and the Metropolitan Municipality. Kiril Petkov and Yordanka Fandakova turned out to be an expectedly bad combination and are about to leave the people of Sofia in the cold in the winter.

This was announced by the leader of the civic platform „Stand Up.BG“ Maya Manolova during a demonstration in front of the „Bulgargaz“ building, organized by the movement. Manolova presented the executive director of the company, Ivan Yotsov, with a removed radiator. At the same time, Izpravi se.BG asked 10 questions to Yotsov, who refused a meeting with the representatives of the civil platform:

  1. Why did Bulgargaz violate the law and not submit to Energy and Water Regulatory Commissionby July 10 an application with the price of natural gas for the month of August, which is the legal requirement?
  2. How much will natural gas go up in August? Mrs. Manolova announced that they will also ask KEVR why they did not sanction „Bulgargaz“ since they violated the law and did not announce the price of gas for the month of August.
  3. Are gas supplies assured and at what prices for the coming months and for the coming severe winter?
  4. For the month of July, which are the companies that supply gas, at what prices and how did „Bulgargaz“ choose them?
  5. Is the full amount of gas available for August and September? We remind you that the executive director of „Bulgargaz“ announced that 20% of the required amount of gas for the two months is not enough. This raises the question of which businesses will be cut off from gas and which workers will lose their jobs.
  6. Are there tenders, procedures, public procurements and are there connections and conflicts of interest with gas suppliers? Is the company where the executive director of Bulgargaz MET worked for 7 years one of the main suppliers of gas? Ms. Manolova asked: „Does he feel he has a severe conflict of interest because of the deals he’s making with the company he worked for literally until that day?“ This is a company that sells to Bulgargaz, buys from Bulgargaz, and earns BGN 7 million per month through pre-invoicing alone.“
  7. Who is responsible for the termination of the contract with „Gazprom“ – whether it is the Council of Ministers with a decision of April 13, 2022 or the management of „Bulgargaz“? „We will ask them if they are preparing for an arbitration case, because the information is that Gazprom’s experts are preparing one in which it is absolutely possible to condemn Bulgaria for over BGN 1 billion. Who will pay them?“ asked Maya Manolova.
  8. Is the required amount of gas pumped into Chiren by law and at what prices? „Last year the pump was at BGN 70-80, then in these few seconds transactions they sold this gas for BGN 120-130. Now they are pumping at BGN 300. i.e. in the winter, natural gas will be super expensive, because of the deals that the management of Bulgargaz was making,“ said the chairman of the civic platform „Stand Up.BG“.
  9. Will the request of the European Commission to reduce the consumption of natural gas by 15% for this winter be respected?
  10. Will „Bulgargaz“ provide gas to „Toplofikatsia Sofia“ and to the other heating systems in the country?
