“Mr. Borissov, who entrusted the health of the Bulgarians to AstraZeneca?“ Why is a contract signed with this manufacturer as a priority? How much do we pay to not have vaccines? So in the morning we have been playing scenes on TV about how angry the Minister of Late Deliveries is. Didn’t you declare yourself a savior from the health crisis? What are the penalties? Will the state look for them? Why does Israel, for example, not have this problem? Is it because they bet on a more reliable manufacturer? People want answers, not excuses.”

This was stated by the chairwoman of the Civic Platform „Stand Up.BG“ Maya Manolova in a position to the media regarding the delayed deliveries of AstraZeneca vaccines.

„You stepped on the“ vaccine „mine and hurried to find the manufacturer and the EU guilty. Why did you not guarantee people’s health, as your colleagues did, not only in Israel, for your citizens? Why are there no large deliveries from other manufacturers? Has lobbying prevailed over the public interest in concluding the contract? Do ordinary Bulgarians currently suffer because the family relationship between a daughter and a mother between the GERB MEP and the director for Bulgaria of the company that produced the vaccine that did not arrive has influenced the decision? How will the director’s mother of an MEP be held accountable for the delayed deliveries (already paid)?” Manolova asked about the information that the “green corridors” are being closed today at the Military Medical Academy and other hospitals due to a shortage of vaccines. That is, there are no vaccines for those who want them, because the government lacked about 200,000 vaccines as of March 1, Manolova added.

Borissov himself declared himself the state chief sanitary inspector, the vaccine provider, the „managing director“ of the health crisis, but also the savior of the nation from the COVID crisis. That is, it is natural to answer. We will see his bill (if it comes out) on April 4, she is categorical. About 50 Bulgarians per day continue to lose their lives in COVID-19, and about 320 per week. Manolova added:

„If the vaccines had been delivered on time, wouldn’t these lives have been saved, Mr Savior?“

“Are both the EU and a private company responsible for the lives of Bulgarian citizens under the Constitution or you?”
