The Bulgarian Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov has dismissed Party Ataka’s claims for selling low-priced military properties. He also recalled that each transaction was executed under state property law and passed through internal and external departmental control.

Karakachanov also stressed that his goal was not to sell but to preserve such property. According to him, during the period 2001-2008, a total of 392 properties were sold under procedures. For the time of being Minister for 2 years and 10 months the number of the selled properties is 16.

He emphasized that there is a strategy for their utilization in large settlements. A ceded construction right is to be launched. This will allow housing for servicemen to be built.

Karakachanov said all of this during his speech at the National Assembly at the request of Party Ataka. According to Desislav Chukolov, member of “Ataka”, the ministry has sold, at market prices, military properties located in the ideal centers of cities, along the Black Sea coast and in industrial areas with millions of businesses.
