„People are angry again because we are witnessing another sadistic act that went unnoticed by the justice system. It is time for each of us to take our role and responsibility to stop the onslaught of aggression and pain in our lives.“
This was stated by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov at the beginning of the meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Prime Minister appealed to the Ministers of Justice, Home Affairs, Labor and Social Policy and Education to take a hard look at what is not working in their systems over the next week and propose changes.
„Please also note the measures that are not only in the area of the government and that affect other institutions as well,“, Denkov pointed out and added:
„I also expect law enforcement to use force when and only when absolutely necessary and be a force for good the rest of the time. Anyone who doesn’t understand the difference has no place in the internal affairs system.“
The Prime Minister urged MPs to „adopt the right laws that protect victims and and leave no loopholes for perpetrators to get away“, and the judiciary, prosecutors and judges „to use their powers to protect victims, not perpetrators, because people want justice, not apathy and indifference“.
