The head of the National Operational Headquarters, Maj-Gen Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, announced during the regular morning briefing that there are 40 new cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria, 14 of which have been admitted to a hospital. The total number of confined coronavirus cases in Bulgaria reached 735 – a 5,8% increase compared to yesterday. The number of active cases is 585.
The virus reached the city of Yambol where the first case of the diseases was registered. There are 29 new cases in Sofia with the total number of infected people in the capital city adding up to 444. There are 3 new cases in the city of Kyustendil where there is an established outbreak of the virus. There is another outbreak in Smolyan with two new cases. In Sliven, there are 2 new cases of COVID-19 and there is 1 new case in Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, and Haskovo respectively.
Over the past 24 hours, 3 new cases of infected children (aged 6,9 and 15) have been registered. They are from the region of Sofia and are not admitted to a hospital.
The number of infected men in the country is 408 and of infected women 327. Infected children under the age of 18 years are 27 or 3.6% of the total number of infected people. Children with coronavirus under the age of 10 years are 14 or 1.9% of all cases.
There are two new cases of infected medical workers – a janitor from Military Medical Academy and another health worker from “Alexandrovska” hospital. The infected medical workers in the country are 39.
The number of recovered patients is 105, 24 of which have been discharged over the past 24 hours.
A 59-year-old woman passed away in the hospital of “Pirogov”. She was admitted with liver cirrhosis, diabetes, and hypertension. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country is 36.
The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients is 210, 29 of which are being treated in intensive wards.
