COVID-19 in Bulgaria: 41 new cases, 42 recovered patients and 5 deaths over last 24 hours

There are 41 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Bulgaria and 11 COVID patients admitted for hospital treatment over the last 24 hours, announced Dr. Todor Kantardzhiev, Head of National Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases, during the regular virus briefing of the Bulgarian coronavirus task force. He added that 1,450 people have been tested for the period. 

Eight of the new infections have been confirmed in the capital city of Sofia, 17 in Pazardhzhik, and single cases have been registered in Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil and Smolyan

Two patients of the capital hospital of “Pirogov” have fully recovered. Regional Health Inspections in Bulgaria report that 24 patients placed under home treatment in Sofia have recovered, followed by 7 patients from Pleven, 3 from Veliko Turnovo and Smolyan, 2 from Plovdiv, and single patients from Silistra and Sliven

The number of people contracted the new coronavirus in Bulgaria reached 2,372 with the number of active cases being 1,478. The number of recovered patients over the last 24 hours is 42 with their total number since the beginning of the outbreak standing at 769

A nurse from Knezha has contracted the virus. 

Five people lost their lives to the respiratory disease since yesterday. One is a 78-year-old man suffering from diabetes treated in the hospital of “Pirogov”. There are two new deaths from Pazardzhik – a man and a woman. A 51-year-old woman from Stara Zagora suffering from cancer and an 88-year-old man with a stroke from Yambol also lost the battle against the new coronavirus over the last night.
