Caretaker Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov has reinstated Tencho Tenev as head of the Traffic police in Sofia, the Institute for Road Safety reported on its official Facebook page. Rashkov has returned him to his old workplace with today’s order, it is clear from the post on the social network, where a photo of the document is shown.

Tenev was detained in May in Asenovgrad, where he worked as head of the Security Police. He was indicted in as a defendant and detained for an offence in his official capacity and for illegal possession of ammunition. After detaining him for 72 hours, the Prosecutor’s Office released Tenev on bail of BGN 10 000. The state prosecution did not ask him to be removed from office and therefore there is currently no obstacle to his appointment as head of the capital’s traffic police.

Tencho Tenev was transferred from the Traffic Police of Sofia to Asenovgrad in the spring of 2020 at his request.

At the time when Tsvetan Tsvetanov was interior minister, he was removed as deputy director of the Sofia Traffic Police. He managed to convict the Interior Ministry and was reinstated in 2014.
