The leader of GERB Boyko Borissov began the Bright Week, insulting and defining the BSP, MRF and “Democratic Bulgaria” as „toxic parties„.

The “Poison Trio” call us toxic, aren’t the BSP and the MRF toxic, „Yes, Bulgaria“ aren’t they toxic, that no one wants to work with them? Let’s measure our words a bit.„, the resigned Prime Minister Borissov called tactlessly. We remind you that his government is resigning while the constitutional procedure for forming a new cabinet is underway.

Respected Ninova cannot say that we should return the mandate faster and close Parliament, because Boyko is in power. And they made a majority to serve Radev, it is not by chance that they did not make a plan for the pandemic, it is not by chance that they did not vote in the majority vote.“, Borissov said.

Once again, after the last parliamentary elections on April 4, the words of the GERB leader exuded fear and dissatisfaction. We remind you that although they became the first political force, GERB’s results are declining and not even close to those of their first parliamentary vote – on July 5, 2009 the party won 39.72% of the vote compared to this year – by only 26.18 %. These data show a total collapse in people’s trust in GERB. It is also a fact that in the past years, thousands have come out in the squares demanding their resignation, and in the past year the demonstrations have become daily. They were stopped because of the COVID pandemic that swept the world, not because of the approval of Borissov’s government, as he himself has repeatedly claimed. Realizing this, the resigned Prime Minister, since he understood the election results and was placed in isolation with his party members, does not stop holding extraordinary press conferences to attack his opponents, including the Head of State of Bulgaria:

The only goal was to give it to the president, namely the CEC. The CEC is appointed by Radev, but Parliament, in order to complete the dictatorship, did not make a methodology for him who will be chairman. Or they will do the same as in Parliament, where their methodology is. Or, if the parties don’t give him the right people, he will decide. Absolute violation of all principles, as out of 20 members in the CEC GERB there were 7, all were of the other parties.”, he recalled.

Most likely, Radev is the focus of his attacks, because last year he was identified as a unifier of the protesters. We also remind that the demonstrations themselves started on July 9, 2020 after two events – one of which was the entry of armed and prosecutors into the building of the presidential administration. The demands of the protesters were two – the resignation of Borissov and Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. The dissatisfaction was supported by the „Poison Trio“, „Vazrazhdane“ political party, „Stand up. BG”, and thousands of citizens here and abroad.

Desislava Atanasova also joined the President’s attacks this morning, announcing that „the new barbarians have not only trampled on the Constitution and the laws, but have also turned the tide because the Electoral Code has not been adopted in two days to be announced retroactively.“

The so-called new barbarians, because such a thing has not existed in the legal peace until now.“, she said.

During the press conference, the decision to vote with machines in the sections with over 300 voters was also affected. Borissov noted that the company with the machines is a donor of „Yes, Bulgaria“. He also defines the constitutional procedure for forming an official cabinet as „nonsense„. Does the resigned Prime Minister allow himself to insult the supreme law in Bulgaria?! Judge for yourself from his speech:

„There are countries we are striving for, with 7-8 party governments. There are countries like Belgium that form a government for 1-2 years. Of course, there is no such nonsense there, which here, with the caretaker government, because they believe in democracy and in the political parties and in the choice of the respective people… Before the elections, the political parties have their programs, tactics of action. This is normal for democracy. Precisely because democracy is an expensive thing, then political parties are obliged, because of all the hundreds of millions that are given for elections, to do what is necessary to have a stable government.“

Borissov recalled that the parliamentary elections cost the state more than BGN 100 million and claimed that democracy was an expensive undertaking.

Moreover, we carried them out in a pandemic. Moreover, we conducted them under the keen eye of observers from all organizations involved in this activity. Everyone said the election was fair and well conducted.“

However, the truth is that the observers did not say exactly that, but that there were many election violations and it was they who pointed out that GERB had an advantage because they distributed state resources before the election. The party leader also appears to be affected by analysts, who say voters „took“ them. He stressed that the difference with the second party (ed. Note – „There is such a people“) is 250 00 votes. But she forgot to mention that the TV presenter’s party was running in the elections for the first time and that the people voted for it with great confidence.

The video of Borissov’s press conference was posted on Facebook. Citizens’ comments predominate below, describing what is happening as „fear in GERB“ and „shame„.
